In 2019, the German War Graves Service turned 100 years old. During the project, Belgian and German young people wrote a piece of music which they performed on the International Day of Peace. On September 21st, the remains of three recently found German soldiers from WWII were buried and a peace bell was unveiled. The project was made possible by the National Lottery of Belgium, German War Graves Commission (German: Volksbund Deutsche Kriegsgräberfürsorge e.V), City of Lommel, German Armed Forces (German: Bundeswehr), and Federal Ministry of Defence.
